CHRIS TOWNSEND MBT | committee member

Chris has a military background with 10 years Naval Aviation experience. He was sent to England to complete a Central Flying School qualification as an Instructor. He left the Navy in 1983 to develop and operate Townsend’s Helicopter Training School in the Sydney region for the last 34 years.

Chris was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to travel the world researching Helicopter Safety and Standardisation in 1996. In 1998, he completed a Masters Degree in Business and Technology at NSW University.

Chris and Ellena have owned a unit in the building since 1991 when they were first released from Meriton. He has been a volunteer on the Executive Committee for several years in the early 1990’s and now, as he approaches retirement, offers his efforts again on the Strata Committee since 2015.

Brian Jackson | Owners’ Corporation committee Treasurer

A career banker having spent 40 years with Westpac, specialising in the commercial lending area, and later with head office in senior management positions. Brian has lead numerous projects such as Y2K and many others involving property management and maintenance. Brian holds a Master's of Business in Management

After retiring from Westpac Brian built the family's south coast home, and later as a consultant designed and managed construction of 60 seat office complex and several retail shops. Currently he is semi-retired working a part time auditor for an accountancy firm, and is Treasurer of our Strata.  Brian and his wife have been owners here since 1999. Brian has served on the committee since 2000.

Darrell Hilton | Owners’ Corporation committee Secretary

Darrell was born in S.A. and educated at Scotch College, Flinders University
and Adelaide University. For the first half of his professional life Darrell had been an actor both in Australia and in London appearing in high profile productions, such as 'Evita' and 'Young Doctors', and co-starring with such stars as Sid James, Jill Perryman, & Bruce Forsyth

Darrell currently runs an audio/visual production company which has produced the most prolific English language learning materials in Australia. Darrell has lived in the building for 17 years. For the last 15 years Darrell service on the Owner’s Corporation Committee. During that time the building
has had major upgrades including the pool/gym, new lifts, video security
system, all without having to impose any special levies on owners. This is something Darrell is very proud of.

Natalie Budovsky | Owners’ Corporation

Natalie Budovsky has recently been appointed as the Group Head of Strategic Procurement at Macquarie University. 

Prior to joining Macquarie University, Natalie held executive operational, commercial and general management roles at Healthdirect Australia, American Express, Cisco and EnergyAustralia (now Ausgrid). Natalie holds an MBA in General Management and an MA in Linguistics and Pedagogical Sciences

Natalie’s varied background is put to good use at the Owners’ Corporation committee. Her responsibilities are varied and many: from assisting the secretary with minute taking and correspondence to running tenders. 2017 marks the third year that Natalie is serving on the committee. On a personal front Natalie is married with two sons and has recently became a grandmother.

CATHERINE VALLAT | Owners’ Corporation committee member

Catherine has 30 years of experience in the finance industry (banks and investment management companies) in Paris, France and in Sydney. During that time she held various positions in accounting, financial reporting and management reporting.

Catherine is now pursuing other interests, which includes helping her cousin who has a hypnotherapy business in Sydney called Serenity Hypnotherapy. She has also been able to dedicate some spare time to take care of Waratah Apartments’ accounts since 2018.

Catherine has been living in the building since 2007, first as a tenant, then as an owner. She is married and has 3 step-children

aSHLEY SLATER | Owners’ CorporatION committee membeR

Ashley had a background in agriculture before moving into the Airline industry where he has spent the last 18 years.  Currently Ashley is working as a Supervisor for Qantas Airways in the area of Customer Journey Management coordinating passenger logistics medical needs.

Ashley has a strong interest in continually improving 71 Victoria St with the aim of making it one of the standout properties in the Potts Point area. Ashley says: “We live in a unique location in a building that receives great praise from local Real Estate agents, most notable is their recognition of our unique self-management style that brings a sense of belonging to all residents.”

Ashley joins a team of fellow committee members, who share a commitment to continually improving our building and its facilities, and to providing our owners and residents with a sense of community in a place we can all proudly call home.

PROF. peter collignon am | Owners’ CorporatION committee membeR

Professor Collignon is an Infectious Diseases physician and microbiologist in Canberra with extensive clinical and medical research experience. He is active in many public health advocacy issues. Particular interests are antibiotic resistance, infection control, hospital acquired infections and Covid-19. He is member of many national and international committees, including as an expert to the World Health Organization (WHO) since 2000.

In 2009 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to Medicine in Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Infection Control.

He has had extensive experience as the secretary of a Body Corporate committee for an apartment building in Mooloolaba, Qld. In that building over the last 15 years, there has been extensive and successfully completed refurbishments and repairs. This has included the replacement of all external doors and windows. This has involved Peter having frequent dealings with builders, façade engineers and vertical engineers (for lifts).

 

RICHARD CUMMINS | Owners’ CorporatION committee member

Richard Cummins has had considerable experience in the management of Public and Private hospitals and aged care facilities, including in the capacity of a Chief Executive Officer. Richard has also owned several successful businesses in NSW and WA.   He has also served on a country Municipal Council as an alderman and various charity Committees including Apex, ambulance boards, sheltered workshop, and a large retirement village. He has been a member of other Strata Committees both in NSW and WA.  

Richard has owned his unit in "Waratah" since 1994 and lived here since 2007 when he retired and returned from WA. Richard is now enjoying his retirement and loves working in a voluntary capacity on the concierge desk on Saturday mornings meeting the wonderful owners and tenants who reside in what he believes to be one of the best Apartment complexes in Sydney.
